Use standard technique to obtain fluid from the site.
Transfer to a sterile container and secure the lid to prevent leakage.
Please Indicate on the requisition whether the specimen is taken via lumbar puncture or shunt.
Also indicate on the requisition if the patient has received intrathecal chemotherapy from the collection site.

Deliver immediately by Service Assistant/porter to the Core Laboratory on the 11th floor. Do not leave in the "After Hours" fridge.
Do not send through the pneumatic tube.
Please do not refrigerate.
