Other Information

○ This test is applicable to sterile body fluids and tissues and other clinical specimens (e.g. swabs) in consultation with the UHN/SH microbiologist on call

○ Results will be communicated by telephone as soon as possible after receipt of the specimen in the laboratory. Ensure specimen is received by the laboratory as soon as possible.

○ Urine, stool and blood cultures do not receive Gram stains upon receipt and will not be processed for an immediate STAT Gram request
