○ CSF ○ CNS fresh biopsies or fixed tissue
Other Information
○ Plasma, serum, whole blood and urine will not be accepted.
○ Sterile container (min volume 0.6 mL)
○ Decontaminate skin, collect at least 0.6 mL of CSF by lumbar puncture.

○ Label specimen container. Place specimens in biohazard bag and seal.

○ Specimens should be stored and transported to the UHN/SH Microbiology Laboratory at refrigeration temperature (2-8˚C) immediately after collection. Fixed tissue may be stored at room temperature (20-25 ˚C).

○ The specimen will be referred to the National Microbiology Laboratory for testing
