○ IgG testing will be performed by PHOL on all measles immunity serology requests.
○ Measles IgG and IgM will be performed on diagnostic requests only, with relevant clinical history.
○ Collect the acute sample within 7 days after the onset of rash. Collect the convalescent sample minimum 7-10 days after the acute, preferably 10-30 days after acute.

○ Serum separator tube (clotted blood) (min volume 5 mL)
○ Decontaminate skin with 70% alcohol followed by iodine or chlorhexidine, collect at least 5 mL of blood

○ Label specimen container. Place specimens in biohazard bag and seal.
○ Specimens should be stored and transported to the UHN/SH Microbiology Laboratory at refrigeration temperature (2-8˚C) immediately after collection.
