This test is used for preparation of a whole blood into a representative sample for introduction into the flow cytometer for immunophenotypic analysis.

Samples that have the wrong anticoagulant or are clotted, or are greater than 48 hours old will be rejected. Specimens that are under-filled, hot or cold, may proceed with testing. However a comment will appear on the report to interpret results with caution.

Monday to Friday and no later than 3 pm on Fridays. No Flow Cytometry testing on weekends and statutory holidays. Specimen to be stored at room temperature.

Diagnosis and/or indication of type of hematological pathology on the requistion will help with testing procedure.
B and T cells flow panels are run and depening on results the hematopathologist may order follow up flow panels for further immunophenotypic investigation.
