○ This test is intended for use in conjunction with risk assessment, radiography and other medical and diagnostic evaluations. ○ A negative test does not rule out TB.
○ Whole blood: lithium-heparin tube (green top)
Whole blood: ○ Decontaminate skin with 70% alcohol followed by iodine or chlorhexidine, collect at least 5 mL of blood.

○ Label specimen container. Place specimens in biohazard bag and seal.
○ Transport specimens to the UHN/SH Microbiology Laboratory at room temperature (20-25˚C). If a delay of more than 3 hours is expected, store at refrigeration temperature (2-8˚C). The specimen must first be held at room temperature for a minimum of 15 minutes.
○ The specimen will be referred to Sick Kids for testing.
