Other Information

○ This test will detect the following pathogens: SARS-CoV-2, Adenovirus, Coronaviruses 229E, HKU1, NL63, OC43, human Bocavirus, human Metapneumovirus, Influenza virus A, A subtype H1, subtype H3, B, Parainfluenza 1 to 4, RSV A and B, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus, Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae
○ Only the following populations will be tested: immunocompromised patients from PMH, outbreak investigation.
○ Other sample types (BAL, pleural fluid, etc.) or other populations (inpatients) will be tested at PHOL. See Respiratory viruses.

○ NP swab: single swab in universal transport medium

Nasopharyngeal swab
○ Insert tip of swab into nostril aiming along the floor of nasal cavity until posterior wall of nasopharynx is reached. Resistance will be felt when reached. Rotate swab for 10-30s. Place swab into transport medium and close tube. Repeat collection with second nostril.

○ Label specimen container. Place specimens in biohazard bag and seal.

○ Specimens should be stored at refrigeration temperature and transported to the laboratory within 24h after collection.
